Founding owners Ray(left) and Paul(right) say farewell to Barbara (left) and Eileen (right) - together they have 30 years of experience at CJ Tools

Barbara and Eileen - moving on (archived Nov 2007)

Founding owners Ray Ellis and Paul Taylor made a special effort to say thank you in the most personal way. "Words aren't good enough sometimes so we thought we'd express ourselves in this way" Carol (Commercial Manager a 20 year veteran of CJTools ) played her part , guiding the 'boys' to hit the right spot.

A bouquet of flowers, a bottle of bubbly and a little something in a jewelry box bought the emotions to the fore for two special long term employees who are shortly leaving CJTools.

Commercial Manager Carol (centre) says goodbye and good luck to Barbara (left) and Eileen (right)

With over 30 years experience at CJTools between them Barbara and Eileen can tell many stories and have seen significant changes over the years. As characters within the company they will be missed, but not forgotten and they know the door is open for whenever they are passing. Both Barbara and Eileen have plans, for Barbara grandparenting will be a new and interesting diversion and for Eileen it's travel and off to see her sister in Malta. What ever they do, we sincerely thank them and we all wish them the best of health and happiness in all that they do.

Birthday of a Saints Fan (archived Aug 2007)

Material Manager Kevin gets a birthday surprise

Materials Manager could have choked on his birthday cake .........when he was surprised by the warmth of feeling expressed as he celebrated his 50th birthday.

Choked literally ....because he is a devout Saints fan and the overwhelming support amongst his colleagues for local team Pompey makes him a lonely chap at the best of times, so this out emotional outpouring and care was a real surprise. Kevin watches Saints regularly said he never seen such a big crowd before as was gathered around his desk.....

Jenny (the kind one) said:
' we wanted to get a Saints cake , but no-one in Pompey can make them and I didn't really like to ask in case someone overheard me at the bakery!! '

Kevin willingly cut and shared the cake as he was watching his waistline, something we've all had to do, so why shouldn't he....

CJ Precision staff say goodbye to Eduardo after his 14 weeks placement

We have been pleased to host Eduardo for the past 14 weeks as a work experience placement on the Leonardo Da Vinci program from his home town in Northern Spain.

Eduardo has been working on core engineering skills throughout his time with CJT and now returns to Spain to complete his academic studies.During his time here he has learnt many things and made many friends. "CJT was a perfect fit for Eduardo and the placement has really worked out well for him" commented Maria - Eduardo's course supervisor.

Eduardo leaves CJT with the knowledge he is very welcome to return and he will have many friends to call upon when he's next back in the Portsmouth area.

We are delighted we could help Eduardo and wish him every success in the future. ' He has been a real pleasure to have here ' - Grant Jamieson

Cycling to work (archived jun 2007)

Here at CJ Precision we are happy to support the Portsmouth City Council 'Bike 2 Work' initiative. We have a number of employees who regularly cycle to work but this initiative has given us the chance to raise the question of cycling to work to all our staff.

We've had an overwhelming response with around 50% taking up the challenge. Managing Director - Grant Jamieson was pleased to encourage the staff to have a go and will himself be participating. 'My route to work will certainly change, I won't be able to use the motorway so I'll be 'enjoying' if that's the right phrase, the journey and countryside from a different perspective' he said.

Most of our staff are relatively local and we're happy to provide local employment so riding to work for many of them is a real possibility. Hopefully this 'one off' will show how easy it is and encourage more to make a permanent transition to cycle. We'll all be proudly wearing our 'Vroom' T shirts on the day.
